Leadership Coaching
Check out this quick video to hear Bobby Canosa-Carr, founder of Enlighten Leadership Coaching, explain what coaching means to him and how you can show up as the most fulfilled and impactful version of yourself every day!
What is leadership coaching?
Leadership coaching is a powerful tool to support the personal and professional development of leaders at all levels. Coaching relies on the assumption that the client is whole, wise, and capable. Therefore, the coach's primary role is to draw out the client's wisdom and skill through inquiry, curiosity, gentle provocations, and challenges that help the leader to stretch into her/his best capacities.
The coach serves as a partner to help the leader observe her/himself more closely and through new lenses. When leaders change the way they see themselves, they open up choices for themselves. Through subtle changes in perception, choices, and behaviors, leaders change the way they show up for other people, which often results in monumental changes to impact and outcomes.
Who can benefit from leadership coaching?
Everyone. Literally, everyone. I've coached senior executives of international corporations, searching for fulfillment and connectedness; mid-level managers, working to execute an innovation that will elevate their careers to the next level; and entry-level professionals, looking to expand their sphere of influence. If you want to increase your impact, coaching is for you.
What is Enlighten's approach to coaching?
I coach the whole person, with the understanding that, when we show up as leaders, we bring with us not only our intellects, but also our emotions, our bodies, and our spirits. I leverage a wide variety of tools and methodologies to help leaders see themselves, their decisions, and their behaviors in new ways. Depending on your goals, your preferences, and your needs, I'll work with you to design a customized coaching program.
What does a typical coaching engagement look like?
Every client is different, and I design coaching engagements to meet your unique needs. Whether you're looking for a limited number of one-to-one sessions, an all-inclusive coaching package, team coaching, or developmental workshops, I'll work with you to customize a plan that works for you.
Do you only coach leaders in the education sector?
Although I have spent most of my career working in public education, I coach leaders from every industry.
Whereas consultants rely on their own experience and expertise to advise specific courses of action, coaches rely on the experience and expertise of their clients. Regardless of your professional background, I'll use my skills and training as a coach to support your own self-exploration and development.
What qualifies someone to be a leadership coach?
Coaching is a self-regulated profession, meaning that anyone can call themself a leadership coach. This makes it essential that you take care in selecting a coach with the right training and experience for you.
I studied leadership coaching in Georgetown University's Institute for Transformational Leadership. This is one of the most rigorous and highly regarded coaching programs in the world. I am also an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation.
In more than 20 years of leadership experience in the public education sector, I have orchestrated multiple school transformations, and have mentored leaders who went on to serve as school principals, directors, and deputy superintendents.
